1 Bed/1 Bath Apartment near PATH (Top Floor)

The number of steps to the unit were the least of the issues. Booked this unit for a work trip and it was a disaster. Checked in at 4:30 to find dirty towels on the bathroom floor, crumbs on the table, and sheets that clearly hadn't been changed, hair from private parts on the pillows, comforter, and sheets, and more hair in the shower and on the toilet. No extra linens were in the unit either.I messaged the host, Ray, right away. He said he'd follow up "ASAP" around 5:30. While leaving for the evening, I mentioned it to a maintenance worker servicing another unit. Five hours later, nothing had been touched. VRBO's initial offer was a 70 credit "from their profits." That’s not enough to compensate for no my only sleeping option to be on someone else’s private body part hair. I was told someone would clean before midday the next day. I had work meetings and needed to shower, so with no cleaning supplies in the unit and no real confirmation by 9am, I ordered bleach and towels myself and cleaned the shower. The host eventually said someone could come by, but by then I was checking out the next morning, so there was no point. I've repeatedly requested a 150 cleaning fee refund, which has gone unacknowledged. Instead, the host messaged with checkout instructions for his cleaning crew's turnover, and asked for a 5-star review to help keep the listing ranked well. All is documented in messages & pictures. Book at your own risk… I NEVER will!

Property was as described. Very convenient to the Path Subway to get to Lower Manhattan. Had issues with getting messages from from the host but not there fault it was VRBOs issue. Thank you for the stay I would use you again in the future.

I repeatedly tried to cancel this reservation, owner did not respond once. I purchased travel insurance and will be getting a full refund.

The number of steps (49) should be mentioned . I am in good shape, Other people may not be the same. They would never make it. Doors not numbered. Had to try them all-not good. Microwave, coffee maker and toaster on floor? Not acceptable. More cutlery required and tea towels for drying. The TV would be better in room with couch. Didn’t like lying in the bed to watch. And a mirror in bedroom would be a good idea.

Location was perfect for us and host was very responsive.
